Nature’s President Joe D’Addario Honoured at the 2016 Portraits of Giving
Nature’s President Joe D’Addario Honoured at the 2016 Portraits of Giving Reception!
On Wednesday, April 13, Joe D’Addario – President of Nature’s Emporium – was recognized amongst 10 other honourees for outstanding philanthropic contributions to the community of Newmarket during the 2016 Portraits of Giving Reception, presented by Merk Photography.
For 7 years, the Portraits of Giving event – hosted at Upper Canada Mall – has recognized members of the community who demonstrate a selfless commitment to improving the lives of others through charitable endeavours.
Recognizing a Tradition of Giving Back
Joe’s recognition has been earned through his continued efforts spanning across the more than 20 year history of Nature’s Emporium. It’s an acknowledgement that likewise honours all of the stakeholders and team members at Nature’s Emporium, who’ve made charitable work a core pillar of their family-run business from day one.
“Having achieved some success and being able to give to our community who has helped us succeed brings me a feeling of gratitude.” Joe remarked to columnist Melony Teague, who captured each honourees story during the lead up to the event.
This commitment to giving is especially evident in the organization’s ongoing partnership with Southlake Foundation for the Run or Walk for Southlake, Presented by Nature’s Emporium.
The event returns Sunday, May 1st, marking the fourth year since Nature’s Emporium embraced the role of Title Sponsor.
Since getting on board, the run has enjoyed 3 straight years of record breaking success.
Last year’s event drew over 1900 participants and generated $288,000 NET in support of Southlake Hospital.
To date, more than $1,000,000 in total funds have been raised by the event.
The annual Run or Walk for Southlake, Presented by Nature’s Emporium holds special meaning for Joe, whose father – Angelo D’Addario – was treated at Southlake during his battle with cancer. Though Angelo ultimately lost his battle, Joe and his family were left with an enduring respect for the dedication and care shared every day by the compassionate team at Southlake.
Thank YOU For Making This Moment Possible
On behalf of Joe and the entire family here at Nature’s Emporium, we’d like to take this opportunity to once again thank you – our incredible customers – for the support you’ve shown us over so many years.
You make it all possible. You deserve recognition for your important contributions to our shared efforts to build a better community.
We look forward to sharing many more years of growth and wellness with each of you. We can’t wait to see you on Sunday May 1st, when we lace up in support of better care for local patients in need at the 2016 Run or Walk for Southlake, Presented by Nature’s Emporium!

More about the Portraits of Giving Event
Karen Merk, LPPOC, PMP, an award winning York Region photographer, was personally inspired by people in our community who contribute their time and resources to the benefit of others. These are people who give back for the right reasons and don’t want to be in a spotlight, but felt honoured to be celebrated. Karen developed the concept for Portraits of Giving and has continued to produce and organize the exhibit for the past 6 years. Karen invited writer, Melony Teague, to contribute the very touching stories behind the acts of giving of ten more York Region people, adding another dimension to this photography exhibit.
Portraits of Giving travels to five towns each year: Aurora, Newmarket, Richmond Hill, Vaughan and Markham and for the first year it will travel to a 6th town, King Township. Also for the first time we have partnered with the Newmarket and Richmond Hill Chambers of Commerce. Our Charity recipients for 2016 are: Mackenzie Health, Southlake Regional Health Centre and Markham Stouffville Hospital.
