The Better Bag: Nature’s to Introduce a 100% Certified Compostable Bag Option In-Store on Earth Day, April 22nd!

Introducing a Better Bag: our 100% Certified Compostable shopping bag option, coming soon to all Nature’s Emporium locations.

We believe in a better bag.

That’s why we’re introducing our new 100% Certified Compostable Bag option at all checkout lanes on Earth Day, Monday April 22nd, 2019.

This bag is the latest step in our ongoing mission to reduce the amount of single-use plastics available in our stores, and it will help us prevent as many as 1,000,000 plastic from bags entering landfills every year.

Use it, Reuse it. It’s in your hands.

Our better bag offers a convenient option for carrying your purchases. It’s also approved for use in municipal composting programs, so it can be reused as a replacement for the compostable bags you were already purchasing.

At just 10 cents per bag, it’s a great way to reduce your impact without sacrificing the convenience and flexibility offered by traditional plastic bags.

There’s More to Come!

We’re extremely proud to be the first retailer in Ontario to offer a 100% certified compostable bag option at our checkout lanes. We plan to take our sustainability efforts to the next level throughout 2019. Thank you for joining us in the journey, and for your support as we work to be the change we want to see in the world!

Good idea not going to work at 20 cents a bag

Thank you for your feedback, Dirk. We’ll find out whether our customers feel the same way. Ultimately, it’s about offering our customers more choice – and we’ve had great feedback so far!

Your company can make a huge impact if they offered a BYOC (bring your own container program) for the bulk products. the customer would get the container zeroed out then fill it with whatever they desire if you wanted to go a step further anyone who did participate in this program the customer would get 10 cents off each bulk item they use their own containers. The benefits of this are that it reduces the amount of plastic bags, gives the customer a reason to bring their containers, and most importantly over time your company wouldn’t need to buy as many bags so you would be saving money.

      Hi, Mia.

Thanks for sharing your feedback. You’ll be happy to know that we already allow customers to use their own containers (provided they are weighed at our checkout lanes prior to use). We do not, however, currently offer a discount for those that do. We’ll be sure to share your feedback with our team for consideration!

Love the compostable bag option and am quite willing to pay the 20 cents. I have been using them for weeks now and use them to line my green box at home. The one question I have is whether they produce micro plastics when they break down, or break down into components that have no plastic content.
